I love watching monthly resets on YouTube and TikTok. This is a new series I’d like to start on my blog and possibly TikTok eventually.
These posts will be a grow as I go process, but I have to start somewhere with these monthly resets.
The purpose of a monthly reset is to prepare for a new month by setting goals and intentions. It’s also a place to reflect on the previous month-what went right, what can you improve, etc.
July Check In
Before I get to my August goals, let’s do a little July check in.
Reading Goal-10 books (did not accomplish)
Cleaning Goal-I do think I did a better job at keeping things tidied up, but I need to find an actual cleaning routine.
Etsy Goal-I did get my fall bookmarks and sticker collection releases mid month. I also added a new product to my shop-Kindle lock screens! Overall I feel like I had a successful Etsy month.
Content Goal-I don’t feel like I met any of the content goals I set for July. I stand by my statements about Instagram-the algorithm has not been kind lately and it does not make me motivated to create content. TikTok has also slowed down for me-all of my video stall out after 200-300 views. I also did not write any extra blog posts in July, although I did work on two that will be posted in August.
Things I Bought in July
I did buy two of the three items on my “Things To Buy” list. I also bought a bunch of other things that were not on that list! Prime Day really got me this year.
I treated myself to an Apple Watch on Prime Day. I went with the SE model and of course grabbed some watch bands and screen protectors. I only bought it because my FitBit battery was not lasting as long anymore and I was due an upgrade.
I did buy a new vacuum and water bottle, so at least I stuck to a few of the things on my list. I went with an Ello water bottle instead of Owala simply because there was Prime Day deal for Ello and I liked their color options better. I did not buy a storage ottoman. We couldn’t find anything that fit our space, so I may abandon that idea and find another solution for our blanket situation.
Since August is back to school time for me, I also bought some new clothes and shoes to start the year. I love these sandals that I bought. It is so hard to find supportive sandals that are also cute, so I was happy to find these!
August Reading Goals
Since I am first and foremost a book blogger, it’s appropriate that the first thing I discuss is my reading goal for August.
I have set a goal of 4 books for August. I go back to work this month, and it is such a struggle to readjust to a routine and schedule. Most of the month I will be too tired every night and weekend to do much more than binge TV on the couch.
I plan to make Sunday a social media free day in August so I can hopefully fit in some more reading. I’m also doing a 30 minute challenge in my book club where we add reading to a daily activity or replace a daily activity with 30 minutes of reading. I’m hoping this will help me get back to listening to audiobooks again.
Here are a few books I hope to read in August:
August Cleaning Goals
I am not going to be too ambitious here because the goal for August is to just survive the transition of a schedule and routine.
I do plan to keep the kitchen and living room areas cleaner now that I have the new vacuum. So I want to make sure the counters are wiped down after dinner each night and the floors have been vacuumed.
One thing I could work on in August is not letting laundry pile up. I do a good job staying on top of the washing and drying, but I will live out of a clothes basket for a week before I take time to fold them.
August Etsy Goals
I can’t say too much right now, but…I do have a new product lined up for my Etsy shop. I hope to launch in August, but I’m not going to hold myself to it.
My other goals would just be to increase my bookmark and sticker sales. I may have released fall bookmarks too early this year, but I was too excited to share them!
August Content Goals
I have two new blog posts for August and I would like to add one more to that if possible.
I am trying to work on a content schedule. I am thinking I will try to do a bulk photo/video day once a week so I have material for posts on Instagram and TikTok. I am a spur of the moment poster though, so I’m not sure I can come up with enough content ideas a week in advance.
Things To Buy in August
I don’t have any items on my to buy list in August. I could probably use a no/low spend month after July’s spending spree.
Please let me know what other goals or topics you’d like to see in these monthly reset posts! I had a lot of fun writing something that wasn’t a book list for once, so I hope you enjoyed this post.
