I love watching monthly resets on YouTube and TikTok. This is a new series I’d like to start on my blog and possibly TikTok eventually.
These posts will be a grow as I go process, but I have to start somewhere with these monthly resets.
The purpose of a monthly reset is to prepare for a new month by setting goals and intentions. It’s also a place to reflect on the previous month-what went right, what can you improve, etc.
Reading Goals
Since I am first and foremost a book blogger, it’s appropriate that the first thing I discuss is my reading goal for July.
I have set a goal of 10 books for July. I did not read as much in June because we were traveling, so I want to catch up on my usual level of summer reading by finishing 10 books in July.
Here are some of the books I hope to read in July:
Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas – I started my tandem read of these books 5 and 6 in the Throne of Glass series at the end of May. I would really like to wrap these two up before the end of July.
Summer Reading by Jenn McKinlay – This is my summer book club pick. I have not been in a romance mood lately, so I feel really behind on the group read.
Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak and The Hacienda by Isabel Canas – I do want to participate in the Summerween readathon this year, so I have these two books as tentative picks for the week’s festivities!
Cleaning Goals
I am guilty of not keeping my house super clean and tidy all the time, but my mental health is so much better when my house is clutter free.
I already started on this goal for the month, but I’m trying to give my home a good deep clean before going back to work in August. So far I have cleaned the dining room and our bedroom. I need to tackle the kitchen, my closet, my bathroom, and my office before the end of the month.
One of my biggest issues I have in our house is the lack of storage. One of the things I plan to buy this month will hopefully help keep my living room clutter free. Keep reading to see my things to buy this month!
Etsy Goals
I may not always share Etsy goals in these monthly resets, but I do feel it’s helpful to have some accountability by sharing sometimes.
My fall bookmark collection is almost ready to go, so my goal is to have those items posted in the shop before mid July. The only hold up right now is adding tassels to bookmarks. I am still trying out different products to see what will work best.
I would also like to have more stickers listed in my shop. I have become obsessed with Kindle content on TikTok, so I want to offer new stickers for decorating Kindles.
Content Goals
My first social media platform for readwithallison was Instagram. Lately I have not been enjoying the app. It feels like a bit of an abusive relationship at this point. I can’t figure out what the algorithm wants anymore and you have to spend so much time interacting on the app to get any sort of engagement.
I have been enjoying TikTok more and find that I am growing and getting more engagement. I would like to start sharing more content on the app. One of my favorite types of content to watch is reading vlogs so I’d love to try one of those myself. I may start off small and do some read with me or how much can I read in an hour style videos.
A reading vlog I would love to do is reading books from Aardvark book club. I have three books coming from them and think it would be a fun way to showcase this new book subscription!

I would also like to start blogging more, which is why I am sharing this post! For the last two years, my content has mostly revolved around my Book of the Month predictions. While I do love writing those posts, I have to admit that I feel like my content is very stale and one dimensional. I would like to write two other posts for the blog this month.
Things To Buy in July
So I mentioned earlier that I was hoping to make a purchase that would help keep my living room neater. I have a huge addiction to blankets. I can spot four in my living room at this very moment. So I want to buy a bench that doubles as storage so we have somewhere to store all these blankets, especially during the summer months when a blanket is not used as often.
I’m totally lying-I always have a blanket in my lap.
I also need (ok, want) a new water bottle for work this year. I have a Stanley tumbler, and while I love it, it’s definitely too big to carry to school every day. I prefer a water bottle with a lid so I can throw it in my bag each day. I plan to look at Target, but I am leaning towards an Owala FreeSip 24oz Stainless Steel Water Bottle.
The last thing I plan to buy in July is a cordless vacuum for downstairs. The vacuum we have is not cordless and I’m too lazy to get it out sometimes because I don’t want to deal with the cord. Yes I know that’s incredibly ridiculous. But cleaning has to be as easy and hassle free as possible for me to stick to any type of routine.
June Favorites
I gave my skin care a major overhaul in June and went a little crazy ordering from Ulta.
I have been neglecting my skincare and wanted some new products to try. I have combination skin that is oily in the T-zone and less oily (not necessarily dry, just not as a oily as my T-zone) in the cheek area. I needed a daily moisturizer so my face wouldn’t feel dry and tight, but I didn’t need anything too heavy because my skin is so oily in area. I decided to try the Derma E Anti-Acne Oil-Control Matte Moisturizer with Salicylic Acid and it is exactly what I was looking for! My T-zone feels less oily but it moisturizes my face so it doesn’t feel tight.
The sides of my face near my ears have been super prone to breakouts lately too. I am thinking it is hormonal, but I can’t seem to figure out how to prevent it. The main issue I deal with is the dark spots after a breakout. So I bought the this Advanced Peptides and Flora-Collagen Serum. It has anti-aging ingredients and is supposed to help with retexturing skin, so I hope it will help fade the dark spots from my breakouts.
Please let me know what other goals or topics you’d like to see in these monthly reset posts! I had a lot of fun writing something that wasn’t a book list for once, so I hope you enjoyed this post.
