It is hard to believe I am writing a post for 2022 Book of the Month predictions! I started this series back in June 2021 and the monthly prediction post quickly became my most read list every month. From the bottom of my heart-thank you for continuing to support my blog and bookmark shop! I love sharing my predictions (even though I am wrong 99% of the time) and helping my fellow bookworms add to their ever-growing TBR piles.
I am changing some things up on my blog, which is actually good news for my fellow Book of the Month fanatics! There will not be monthly new releases posts, but I am now including multiple book predictions for each genre on these Book of the Month prediction posts!
If you’ve been around for a while, you know Book of the Month (BOTM) is my favorite book subscription service. I love the anticipation of finally seeing the five monthly picks and always have fun trying to guess what may show up on the app on the first of every month.
If you aren’t familiar with BOTM, you can check out my full review of this subscription service. The basic idea is BOTM chooses five books from different genres every month and members can choose their pick when the books go live. You can also add on up to two more books for only $10.99 each.
If you don’t like any of the picks, you can choose to skip and save your credit for the next month, which is honestly the best part of this service to me. I don’t like subscription boxes that only offer one book selection that you don’t know ahead of time. If you are interested in trying BOTM, you can use my link to get your first book for only $5!

Historical Fiction Predictions
Beautiful Little Fools by Jillian Cantor
Release date: January 4, 2022
An expansion of the great American classic, The Great Gatsby, and retold from the perspectives of the women from the original story. The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite classic books, so I am definitely curious about this retelling from the POV of Daisy, Jordan, and Catherine.

Fantasy Predictions
Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
release date: January 11, 2022
This is definitely a long shot but worth mentioning to at least put it on your radar! Daughter of the Mood Goddess is a historical fantasy retelling based on the legend Chang’e, the Chinese moon goddess. A young woman must embark on a quest to save her mother, who has been exiled for stealing the Emperor’s elixir of immortality.
Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman
Release Date: January 27, 2022
**I found this title on Goodreads and it has an Amazon page but I couldn’t actually find this title listed for sale anywhere. Not sure if the pub date has changed. So I feel like this is unlikely to be a pick, but I am leaving it on the list because I know some of you will be interested in this title either way!
Pandora is a historical fantasy novel about a mysterious Greek vase that sets off a string of events surrounding conspiracy, revelations, and romance. Stokes-Chapman is a debut author, and this sounds like the kind of fantasy novel BOTM picks!
January Add On Predictions
Light Years From Home by Mike Chen
RELEASE DATE: January 25, 2022
Light Years From Home would be a repeat author pick for BOTM. Chen’s previous novel, We Could Be Heroes, was an add on in early 2021. This is a sci-fi story about two sisters on a camping trip with their dad and brother. who disappear while on the trip. The dad shows up a few days later, but it is years before the brother returns. He is older and different and keeps talking about an intergalactic war. Now the FBI is after him, and the sisters must put aside their differences to help their brother.
Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover
RELEASE DATE: January 18, 2022
This seems more likely to show up as an add on since BOTM just picked a Colleen Hoover book a couple of months ago. I think it will show up as part of Kindle Unlimited’s catalog though since most of Hoover’s book are available on the service.
A young woman returns to her hometown after serving time in prison. She wants to reunite with her daughter but finds herself connecting with the local bartender when everyone in her daughter’s life is determined to keep them apart.
Seasonal Work by Laura Lippman
release date: January 4, 2022
A short story collection featuring fierce women by one of today’s top crime writers. I am not sure how often BOTM picks short story collections, but I feel certain I have seen a couple as add-ons over the years.
