New Book Releases September 2020

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I receive a small compensation to help support my blog if you decide to make a purchase through my links at no cost to you.

I am so excited about the new book releases for September 2020! One of my most anticipated books from my favorite author releases this month, as well as some books from new-to-me authors that sound perfect for me.

I love when September rolls around because we typically start to see more mystery/thriller and horror book releases. Summer is when you see the most romance and literary fiction usually, and while I enjoy those genres occasionally, I have to admit the last couple of months have had less than appealing new releases for my personal reading tastes!

You will still find a variety of genres on the September new book releases list!

one by one ruth ware

One by One by Ruth Ware

One by One is without a doubt my most anticipated book this month! I always enjoy Ruth Ware’s books, and I feel like her books get better and better. Her last release, The Turn of the Key, was super creepy, so I’m hoping she continues to write books with that same vibe.

I prefer to go in to Ware’s books blind, but what I do know about One by One reminds me of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Instead of strangers on a island, our characters will be snowed in at a mountain chalet. Literally chilling.

night of the mannequins stephen graham jones

Night of the Mannequins by Stephen Graham Jones

This author has very recently been on my radar, but apparently he is a very popular horror author. I am still relatively new to the genre (as in I’ve only been aware of Stephen King and Joe Hill), so I am excited to try Jones’ books.

Night of the Mannequins is a novella about a teen prank gone wrong. The teens dress up a discarded mannequin and place it at the local movie theater as a prank. All hell breaks loose and it is unclear if there are supernatural forces, a psychopath on the loose, or both.

I love when a book keeps me guessing about whether or not supernatural forces are involved!

the loop jeremy robert johnson

The Loop by Jeremy Robert Johnson

This is another author who is new to me. I first heard about The Loop when I was invited to read an ARC on Netgalley. I was immediately sold when I saw it blurbed as “Stranger Things meets World War Z in this heart-racing conspiracy thriller.” Sign. Me. Up.

A mysterious outbreak occurs in the small town of Turner Falls, and it causes teenagers to become ill and aggressive to the point of murder. Coincidentally (or not?), all of the infected teens are the children of several executives from the local biotech firm in town.

The synopsis definitely gives me Stranger Things vibes, so I am here for it!

don't look for me wendy walker

Don’t Look For Me by Wendy Walker

Don’t Look For Me is another title I received an ARC of via Netgalley. I have never read a book by Walker, but I’ve always heard good things.

Molly Clarke walks away from her life one night. It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to start their lives over.

Molly’s car is found abandoned miles away from her home. Then a note is discovered at a local hotel. Molly Clarke doesn’t want to be found. Or is that the whole story?

I’ve heard really good things about The Inheritance Games! I’m reading Well Played right now and it’s a fun read. When No One is Watching was a crazy ride!
