The beach is the ultimate setting for getting lost in a good book! If you are headed off to the beach for the holiday weekend, I’ve got you covered! Here’s five books from all different genres you can pack in your beach bag!
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Perfect if you love…historical fiction, romance, women’s fiction
You will be totally immersed in the life story of Hollywood starlet, Evelyn Hugo. I personally loved the audiobook for this book because it felt like Evelyn Hugo was telling me her life story. I was convinced she was a real actress when I was finished with this book!
The Guest List by Lucy Foley
Perfect if you love…mystery, thriller
This book was such a pleasant surprise! A high profile wedding between a reality TV star and online magazine editor is happening on an old island with a chilling history. The guest list is exclusive, and everyone has something to hide-and a reason to commit murder.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Perfect if you love…faeries, fantasy, YA drama, hate-to-love romance
I borrowed this book from the library on a whim two years ago, not expecting to like it. I devoured every second of this delicious guilty pleasure book. Jude, a human, was kidnapped from her home and raised in the High Court of the Faerie. Jude wants nothing more than to be accepted by the fae and will do whatever it takes to win a place at court. You’ll be leaving your beach chair to go pick up the rest of the series!
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Perfect if you love…YA romance
I’ll admit this is not my favorite Jenny Han book, but I do think this series as a whole would be perfect to read at the beach. This syrupy-sweet YA series follows Belly as she spends the summer at Cousins Beach with her mom, her brother, her mother’s best friends, and her two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has been in love with Conrad for as long as she can remember, and she is hoping this is the summer when things finally change between them.
The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager
Perfect if you love…mystery, thriller, suspense
If you’ve been here long, you know Riley Sager is one of my favorite authors, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see one of his books on this list. I recommend The Last Time I Lied for a beach read over his other books because of the setting. The book is written in alternating timelines at a summer camp for girls. Something dark happened in the past when Emma was a camper at Camp Nightingale. Now Emma has returned as a counselor and will not stop until she discovers the truth about what happened when she was last there.
What books are you hoping to get to this summer? Would love to hear from you in the comments!
Great list! I really wish I could go to the beach in the near future.
Thank you! Me too!!
