So many books. so little time is the (un)official reader’s motto, and 2024 was no exception!
I had good intentions this year, but I didn’t quite reach my goal of reading the books I own (okay, I wasn’t even close!). I know there is still *technically* time to read a couple of these, but I am reading all the holiday romances I can this month.
Here are some of the books I wish I read in 2024 but didn’t get around to.
I really need to finish the Once Upon a Broken Heart series in 2025. I might need to do a reread or at least find some summaries online before reading A Curse For True Love by Stephanie Garber.
I have owned Dating You / Hating You by Christina Lauren for at least five years now, and I still haven’t read it! I definitely want to change that in 2025.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett is the first book in a popular cozy fantasy series. The third book comes out in 2025, so I would like to make this series a priority next year.
I preordered The Game Changer by Lana Ferguson in 2024 and sadly never made it a priority. It is a hockey romance, so I’m not sure that’s going to be my thing, but I’m looking forward to trying it.
The Lion’s Den by Katherine St. John is a book that was super popular on bookstagram years ago and I sadly never got around to reading it. It seems long for a mystery, but I need to get over that and just take the plunge!
The next book got pushed down my TBR because of reviews, but I will never skip an Ali Hazelwood book. Not In Love is another STEM themed romance, but I don’t think it is part of the STEMinists series.
One for My Enemy by Olivie Blake is a book I preordered on a whim in 2023. It is a witchy retelling of Romeo and Juliet and the one time I tried to start it, I was overwhelmed by the amount of characters to learn.
I was not the biggest fan of Divine Rivals, but I want to give Rebecca Ross another chance and read A River Enchanted. I remember this being blurbed as perfect for fans of Crescent City.
And finally, I would like to read one of my Aardvark Book Club picks from last year-Starter Villain by John Scalzi. I actually have the audiobook for this because it is narrated by Wil Wheaton, so I think that will be super entertaining for this story.
What are some books you wish you had read in 2024? Let me know in the comments!

This post is so relatable! The endless TBR pile is a such a struggle but it sounds like you have some amazing reads lined up for 2025. I’m intrigued by Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries – I’ve been meaning to dive into that series too!
Good luck tackling these in the new year! My 2024 wishlist includes Fourth Wing (finally giving in to the hype!) Here’s to all of us conquering more of our TBRs in 2025!
