Book of the Month Predictions: October 2026 Picks to Watch
Life Update: If you find this list a bit shorter or missing some new releases, please keep in mind I am taking a short break from content as my family grows by one this fall! This list was completed in July 2026, so publisher dates may have been changed since the writing of this post.
October is when I start expecting a little more darkness from my reading, and I’m curious to see whether Book of the Month leans into that for its October selections.
‘There are plenty of fall releases that could fit the box, from atmospheric thrillers to literary fiction with a darker edge. And, of course, spooky season gives us plenty of possibilities.
I’ve rounded up the October 2026 releases that I’m watching most closely and the books I think could end up as Book of the Month picks.

If you aren’t familiar with Book of the Month, you can check out my full review of this subscription service. Each month, Book of the Month chooses 5-7 books from different genres and members can choose their pick when the books go live. You can also add on up to two more books for only $11.99 each.
