My original goal with my Aardvark Book Club predictions posts was to only have one, maybe two, predictions for each genre.
I have three thriller predictions for February. Sigh.
But I have my reasons! Two of the possibilities are authors that are established but would most likely not show up as Book of the Month picks. However, we have seen Aardvark pick authors that are already established, so I like these books’ chances of being Aardvark Book Club picks over Book of the Month.
You can see all of my February 2024 Book of the Month predictions here.
If you aren’t familiar with Aardvark Book Club, you can check out my full review of this subscription service. The basic idea is Aardvark Book Club chooses five books from different genres every month and members can choose their pick when the books go live. You can also add on up to two more books for only $9.99 each.
If you don’t like any of the picks, you can choose to skip and save your credit for the next month, which is honestly the best part of this service to me. I don’t like subscription boxes that only offer one book selection that you don’t know ahead of time. If you are interested in trying Aardvark Book Club, you can use my code READWITHALLISON4 when you checkout at this link to get your first book for only $4!
As usual, these are just my opinions and my predictions. It is fine if you disagree or think the predictions are terrible-we all have different reading tastes. Please remember to be kind in comments or messages because we are all readers with different tastes!
Mystery Prediction
The Framed Women of Ardemore House by Brandy Schillace
Release Date: February 13, 2024
An abandoned English manor. A peculiar missing portrait. A cozy, deviously clever murder mystery, perfect for fans of Richard Osman and Anthony Horowitz.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
Aardvark Book Club tends to lean more towards cozy mystery stories than other book subscriptions.
Thriller Predictions
Keep Your Friends Close by Leah Konen
Release Date: February 20, 2024
Isolated and embroiled in a custody battle, Mary is desperate for a friend. So when she meets the charming and enigmatic Willa at a Brooklyn playground, their connection feels fated. But during a margarita-fueled moms’ night out, Mary shares her darkest secret about her ex, George, and the next morning Willa simply disappears. No calls, no texts, nothing.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
This cover is an Aardvark Book Club vibe!
The Teacher by Freida McFadden
Release Date: February 6, 2024
A mind-bending, psychological thriller from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Housemaid.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
Aardvark Book Club recently had Midnight is the Darkest Hour as a pick, which is the same publisher (Sourcebooks) as The Teacher. I have also noticed that Aardvark is working with authors who are already somewhat established but maybe not being picked by other book subscription services.
The Guest by B. A. Paris
Release Date: February 20, 2024
New York Times bestselling author B. A. Paris captivated psychological thriller readers everywhere with Behind Closed Doors. Now she invites you into another home full of heart-pounding secrets in The Guest.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
Pretty much added this to the list for the same reason as above. This author is pretty well established, but they have not been picked up in other book subscriptions.
Romance Predications
Right on Cue by Falon Ballard
Release date: February 27, 2024
From the beloved author of Just My Type and Lease on Love comes a new romantic comedy in which a former actress-turned-screenwriter finds herself back in the spotlight, only for her romantic lead to be the one man she can’t stand.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
The late February release date does make me question if this would be an Aardvark Book Club February 2024 pick, but I think the cover and plot fits the vibe of Aardvark romance books!
Literary Fiction Prediction
The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown
Release date: February 13, 2024
Debut Author
A debut novel full of magic, adventure, and romance, The Book of Doors opens up a thrilling world of contemporary fantasy for readers of The Midnight Library, The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, The Night Circus, and any modern story that mixes the wonder of the unknown with just a tinge of darkness.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
Aardvark Book Club has been open about not including fantasy books in their picks, but their literary fiction books often have a fantasy/magical realism element to the plot.
Historical Fiction Prediction
The Uncharted Flight of Olivia West by Sara Ackerman
Release date: February 6, 2024
This extraordinary novel, inspired by real events, tells the story of a female aviator who defies the odds to embark on a daring air race across the Pacific.
Why I Think It Could Be a Pick
Aardvark Book Club tends to pick historical fiction that focuses on unique stories and not just the typical WW2 era books.
