Book of the Month April 2022 Predictions

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I receive a small compensation to help support my blog if you decide to make a purchase through my links at no cost to you.

Book of the Month surprised us in March and gave us seven main picks to choose from instead of the usual five! We also had five new add-ons to choose from, bringing a total of twelve new books to choose from in March.

So of course the pressure is on as I write my April 2022 Book of the Month predictions post!

Book of the Month has stated that we will continue to have seven main picks each month, and apparently add-ons will also still be offered but not guaranteed. Last month, I predicted four of the new books (not including my prediction of The Paris Apartment for February’s picks). Hopefully I am able to predict a few of the books in April, but even if I don’t, I’m sure I’ve found something exciting to add to your TBR!

book of the month april 2022

If you’ve been around for a while, you know Book of the Month (BOTM) is my favorite book subscription service. I love the anticipation of finally seeing the seven monthly picks and always have fun trying to guess what may show up on the app on the first of every month.

If you aren’t familiar with BOTM, you can check out my full review of this subscription service. The basic idea is BOTM chooses seven books from different genres every month and members can choose their pick when the books go live. You can also add on up to two more books for only $10.99 each.

If you don’t like any of the picks, you can choose to skip and save your credit for the next month, which is honestly the best part of this service to me. I don’t like subscription boxes that only offer one book selection that you don’t know ahead of time. If you are interested in trying BOTM, you can use my link to get your first book for only $5!

Fantasy/Magical Realism Predictions

end of the world house adrienne celt

End of the World House by Adrienne Celt

Release Date: April 19, 2022

Honestly I feel like my synopsis doesn’t make End of the World House sound very good, but it really does seem like that kind of sci-fi book I would enjoy! Two friends take a trip to Paris and are invited to attend a tour of the Louvre. But once they are inside, they discover that things are not as they seem as the day continues to repeat itself. Eventually the friends are separated and must try to overcome an apocalypse as they find their way back to each other.

sister stardust jane green

Sister Stardust by Jane Green

Release date: April 5, 2022
Based on true events

Sister Stardust is a re-imagining of the life of troubled icon Talitha Getty in the 1960s. I’m going to be completely honest here-I have no idea who Talitha Getty is, but this novel takes place in Morocco, so the setting sounds interesting.

Literary Fiction Prediction

sea of tranquility emily st. john mandel

Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel

release date: April 5, 2022

I have never read an Emily St. John Mandel novel, but I listed this under literary fiction because I believe most of her stories are more character driven even though the narrative may be a bit sci-fi/dystopian. So definitely look up reviews before picking up her books because I don’t think they are fast paced sci-fi novels.

Sea of Tranquility also seems to explore a pandemic (not sure if it is COVID-19 or just something similar) and spans across 300 years from Vancouver Island to a colony on the moon.

Nonfiction/Memoir Prediction

finding me viola davis

Finding Me by Viola Davis

release date: April 26, 2022

Viola Davis’ memoir/biography, which explores the path she took when she decided to stop running and find a purpose for her life. Definitely interested in reading this one, especially if she narrates the audiobook verson!
