Read With Allison’s 2026 Reading Challenge

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning I receive a small compensation to help support my blog if you decide to make a purchase through my links at no cost to you.

52 books in 52 weeks: a cozy, creative way to fall back in love with reading.

If you love setting reading goals but struggle to keep them, this is the reading challenge for you! The Read With Allison 2026 Reading Challenge gives you one simple prompt each week that is flexible enough to fit your favorite genres but structured enough to keep you inspired. From seasonal reads to new releases and forgotten backlist gems, each prompt is an invitation to pick up something you might have missed.

Join in at any time, share your progress on social media, and use the challenge as a reminder to carve out time for yourself (and your books!) this year.

How Does The Challenge Work?

Choose one book for each prompt on the reading challenge list. Think of the reading challenge as a scavenger hunt for your bookshelves! You can be as creative as you want with your interpretations, but you can only check out one prompt per book you read.

NEW for 2026: This year I have a full 2026 Reading Challenge Guide for you to refer to whenever you have a question about a prompt!

The reading challenge is self paced. You can read the prompts in any order you want, at whatever pace your lifestyle allows.

Don’t think you can read 52 books in a year? That’s okay! My reading challenge is designed to help you make reading a habit by setting a goal of reading one book per week for the entire year. The goal is to find joy in reading, not to make it a stressful event or competition!

How Do I Sign Up For The Reading Challenge?

Subscribe to the Read With Allison newsletter and get access to the FREE reading challenge printables! You get a checklist with all 52 prompts, a suggested monthly breakdown to follow all year, a blank monthly template to fill out however you want, and a 52 book printable to color as you complete books for the reading challenge.

If you prefer to track your progress digitally, you can join the challenge on StoryGraph this year!

Follow Read With Allison on social media! You can find me on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. I also encourage you to join the Read With Allison Reading Challenge group on Facebook. You can share what books you are reading for the challenge and get ideas from other bookworms! Plus I occasionally host bonus reading challenges throughout the year.

The challenge officially starts January 1, 2026. You can plan your TBR before that, but books read before January 1 do not count for the 2026 reading challenge.

The Reading Challenge Prompts

The reading challenge is 52 different prompts, all designed to help you meet your reading goals in 2026! My reading challenge is meant to complement your reading goal, not make it more difficult! The prompts are flexible without being too challenging because nobody wants to spend time reading a book they’re not actually interested in!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use one book for multiple prompts? Nope! You should only use one prompt for each book you read.

Do audiobooks/ebooks/graphic novels count for the challenge? Yes! Reading is reading no matter the format. The only exception is a format specific prompt, like “Listen to an Audiobook.” You must listen to an audiobook for that prompt.

I’m late to the party. Can I join any time? Absolutely! Any book you’ve read in 2026 will count for the 2026 challenge.

Can I start the reading challenge early? Please don’t! I announced the reading challenge prompts in November each year. Some readers like to plan their books in advance and order the reading challenge stickers from Plan It With Stickers. But the challenge officially begins January 1, 2026.

I don’t understand a prompt. Refer to the NEW reading challenge guide or ask in the reading challenge group! Most of the prompts for my reading challenge are fairly straightforward, but occasionally I get questions about the prompts. Just remember, the challenge isn’t meant to be stressful! If you think a book fits a prompt, then read on!
