I have many times thought about not including star ratings with my reviews because star ratings are very different for everyone. To help you understand what a five star read is for me, I’ve put together a rating system for you to refer to.
The biggest thing I’d like for you to take away from this guide is that a three star rating is still a positive rating for me!
Five Stars
I absolutely could not put this book down and binge-read it faster than most books. The characters were memorable and the plot was solid and unique. Five star books are instant favorite books I will rave about and recommend every chance I get.
Four Stars
The book was enjoyable and held my attention, but there were things that could be improved. Four star books are usually books with lulls or filler plot to make the book longer or do not have a unique plot. There may be nothing wrong with the book, it just didn’t impress or appeal to me as much. I will still recommend the book.
Three Stars
I liked the book but didn’t love it. I finished it, but the book wasn’t anything spectacular that will stick with me.
Two Stars
I had a hard time finishing the book. This might be because of a slow or uninteresting plot or writing style. There may have been problematic elements to the story.
One Star
I forced myself to finish the book and did not find it enjoyable. I had many issues with the plot and may have found some content offensive.
DNF
I did not finish the book and will not count it towards my reading challenge. I never give out star ratings to books I DNF.
